Brand-neutral size chart

Which size portable power station fits your outage?

This 12-model chart starts with the loads and runtime you need, then compares stored energy, usable-energy evidence, continuous output, and startup capability across Anker, EcoFlow, Jackery, and BLUETTI.

Use four numbers, not one capacity badge

Rated watt-hours describe stored energy before conversion losses. Usable AC watt-hours are the energy basis used for runtime. Continuous watts screen the combined running load. Startup or surge capability screens the brief demand created when motors and compressors start.

estimated hours = usable AC Wh × (1 − reserve) ÷ average selected-load watts

The calculator applies a 10% reserve by default. Solar recharge is kept outside the first runtime number so an uncertain weather assumption cannot hide an undersized battery.

Measured and planning rows are intentionally different

Five models use shared-method measured AC energy from the current capacity comparison. The seven broader-catalog models use 85% of official rated capacity as a clearly labeled planning basis until comparable measurements are available. A planning row is not a test result.

Compact: under 1 kWh

Shorter essential-load plans where portability matters and the screened load stays within the lower output limits.

Core outage class: about 1 kWh

Refrigeration, communications, lights, charging, and other selected plug-in essentials when the actual load passes both output checks.

Extended portable: 2–3 kWh

Longer essential-load plans or larger supported plug-in loads, with more weight and cost than the 1 kWh class.

A simple selection sequence

  1. 1
    Select the must-run items.

Start with the refrigerator, communications, lighting, charging, medical equipment, pumps, or other loads that matter during your outage.

  2. 2
    Correct the assumptions.

Verify running watts, startup demand, and hours per day from labels, manuals, or suitable measurements.

  3. 3
    Screen power before runtime.

Remove any model that cannot support the simultaneous running demand or conservative startup demand.

  4. 4
    Compare battery-only hours.

Use the same reserve and load schedule for every qualifying model; add solar as a separate scenario.

  5. 5
    Rehearse before relying on it.

Test the actual station, cables, settings, and appliance combination, then replace planning assumptions with observed results.

This chart is not commission-ranked. All 12 product buttons lead to official manufacturer pages and are untracked; no affiliate relationship or commission is active. Prices are omitted because they change and do not alter load compatibility.

The chart covers portable plug-and-play planning. It does not approve fixed wiring, transfer equipment, 240-volt connections, panel integration, or medical-backup adequacy. Verify current manuals and use appropriately licensed professionals for fixed systems.
